Meeting the Needs of Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
SERV Achievement Centers (formerly CIFA) has been providing teaching, training and support to individuals with developmental disabilities and youth with behavioral challenges and emotional problems since 1987. Services are individualized and based on the Teaching Family Model, an approach that utilizes the principles of applied behavior analysis in its treatment planning, teaching and provision of services.
Traditional Group Homes
Ongoing support is provided by well-trained staff who are consistently engaging the consumers by teaching appropriate social and behavioral skills. These homes provide consumers with a well- structured living environment in the least restrictive setting.
Supervised Apartments
For developmentally disabled adults who have achieved a higher level of independent functioning, this apartment program allows for independent living that is supported by on-site trained staff.
Treatment Foster Care
Foster care that provides individualized living with carefully selected, trained and supervised foster care providers who fully integrate consumers into family life, implement treatment and training plans and coordinate activities to help them reach their potential and live happy and satisfying lives.
Progressive Achievement Center - a vocational services day program
The Progressive Achievement Center is an adult vocational training program that works with individuals to develop and improve vocational skills and increase the consumers ability to be independent in the workplace. PAC staff works in coordination with local businesses and organizations to place PAC consumers in a real working environment where they can receive the benefits of employment and become active participants in the community.
Home-Based Services for developmentally disabled adults or children
This 8-week intensive in-home intervention is designed to assist families/caregivers who reside with a developmentally disabled individual who is exhibiting challenging behaviors or skill deficits in the home. Follow-up services are provided to the family for one year after the intensive portion of the intervention is complete.
Mobile Crisis Response for developmentally disabled adults or children
Working through the Division of Developmental Disabilities, this
fast-response team intervenes and diffuses crisis situations within one hour. Remaining with the family until the situation is diffused, the team will then continue to provide ongoing and proactive support for up to four weeks to avoid out-of-home placement. This four-week period is a time to educate and train caregivers/parents and consumers to prevent crisis situations and to decrease problem behaviors
Emergency Services and Shelter Homes
These homes fill a critical need for short-term stable living arrangements for children and youth in crisis situations. Trained and supervised foster care providers help each child to stabilize their behavior and transition to a long-term setting.
Emergency Children's Services
Designed for children in need of immediate placement. They may be residing at home with their family or have been brought to a crisis center at the local hospital. The Division of Developmental Disabilities will contact SERV Achievement Centers to pick up the child and provide emergency services. The child will reside with us for up to 60 days and then be placed permanently, either with SERV Achievement Centers or another agency. Staff members have been trained to respond to significant challenging behaviors.
Emergency Non-Ambulatory Services
Designed for non-ambulatory consumers or adults with limited mobility who are in need of immediate placement. Individuals are referred through the state Division of Developmental Disabilities and placed in an accessible home for up to 120 days. Staff members are trained in all aspects of the needs of the individuals residing in this home, including transfers and hoyer lifts. A wheelchair- accessible van is located at this site.
